Project Brief 3_Video Portrait Reflection
As I considered how to do an interview with someone else, I did think about to do a one shot interview. Firstly, I decided to go to one of my friend’s dorm, and then ask her to open the door and start the video with following her movement. It sounds like a VOGUE’ interview, actually this idea came up with see the VOGUE’s interview on Youtube. However, after I asked Dr Brian of my idea, he said I should use different angles and different compositions to interview a person. So I gave up all the video I recorded before. I literally started a new one.
For the new interview project, I am going to do the interview without my voice, I ask my interviewer to repeat the question back in her answers. Which is really interesting that audiences can still understand what I am asking. During this process, I consider that if I really want to do a good editing of this video, I need to record a lot of shots, even with one question, I need to do different angles’ shots. The most successful part of my submitted work is that I kind of know how to do alternately close-up shot into a full shot, I realised that a lot of movies did the same thing as I did. However, the most problematic aspects of my submitted work would be the editing between two shots, I think sometimes, it is really boarded too do the same video transition. I watched some videos on Youtube that teach people how to do really good video transition, but it need the other Adobe Creative Application named Adobe After Effects CC, I don’t know are we allow to use a different application. If I have a change to make this better, I think I could use the AE to make it better.
In this work, I learned three interesting things. Firstly, before we need the interview we need to come up with the conception of the whole work. Even during the recording process, there could be more creative ideas coming up. Secondly, I knew how to add the Audi’ effects and in the Audio Track Mixer, I knew how to change the whole tracks, it is very useful, and make the audiences listen better. Thirdly, I learned how to do slow-motion, slow-motion replay, I actually add those two effects in my audio. As a media practitioner, after I did our three projects, I realised that what I am learning and doing is actually in the movies. This is really amazing. All in all, after I watched my work, again and again, I think it still can improve a lot, for my next project, I think I can find what the audiences think really enjoy and interesting with, I need to catch that point and then to make one interesting video.
