week6－Edward Scissorhands
Edward Scissorhands is an 18th-century film by the director Tim Burton.This film happens in a small town in California.The movie begins with an elderly woman tells a story about where snow comes from to her granddaughter.
At the beginning, a woman called Peg Boggs who is a seller of beauty. She tries to sell the products but the neighbours just don’t want to buy. When she is upset, she sees a castle which is one of the main character Edward Scissorhands in it on the mountain in her car’s auto mirror. She brings Edward to her town, not only because he has scissors for hands, but also he lives alone with no one to talk. Then, he becomes friends with Peg’s son Kevin and her husband Bill. And soon he falls in love with her daughter Kim who has a boyfriend Jim.All people in town is curious about him, they are impressed by Edward’s cutting skills. They ask Edward to cut their hair, their dog’s hair and lawn. The turning point occurs when Jim and Kim ask Edward to steal his parents’ van, but only Edwards gets to catch. Kim and Jim brawl, because Kim want to explain for Edward, but Jim doesn’t want to.People starts to think that Edward is a bad people. Then, Christmas coming, Peg wants to make a party, actually, neighbours just don’t want to come because of Edward. The climax is that Edward does a ice engraving of Kim and when he does that, it just like snow. At this point, Kim starts to fall in love with Edward. Then, Edward scratches Kim and Kevin by accident. All people in town wants the die. Finally, the story concludes with Edward kills Jim for Kim, and Jim says that she loves Edward, but Edward needs to go.
So, that where the snow comes from. However, Edward’s inventor is an important character in this film. He gives Edward a human-like, he teaches Edward common sense and he tells Edward how to smile. Edward always has recalled about him. At the end, Edward goes back to his castle, he makes a lot of ice engraving, the snow goes out his castle’s window….
Although I watched this movie now, I still surprise the editing and the shooting of this movie, the Characters’ psychologies are very sensitivity.
