We spent the whole three hours on Project 3.
However, I still didn’t finish my rough cut, and didn’t show my work to the class. At that time, I was trying to use some pre-existing videos to do an opening. That was a pity that I didn’t show my work to the class to get some useful feedback. I thought I should take my time to finish the rough cut before due day for next project.
So I will just talk about those works I watched.
I sat besides Kay, so I watched part of her work. She filmed both the interviewer and the interviewee. For me, her video was cool. She interviewed her dancing club partner. I really like the hue and light of that video. But she did’t like the talking style and wanted to do a ‘documentary’ style again.
Amber was the first one to show her work, and I really liked it. I think the background music which is played by the interviewee is very suitable for the whole video. Also, as Liam said, I like the part that some footages are black and white, but the interview is coloured. This editing divides the footage and interview, and also creates the sense of ‘recall’. However, I think the ending is not that proper. I suggest that she can do a fade-out of the music to notice audiences this is the end of the video.
Another impressed work was from Kelly. I think the editing is quite well, the rhythm is very comfortable that I never get bored when watch the video. In addition, the setting of the interview scene is good. It makes people feel like they stay at home and watch this interview. The negative point is that the opening information is not straight to the point. I think it can directly start with the topic ‘vegetarian’ or ‘healthy life style’. And I learn from the 180 degree rule. I think breaking rules in this video is acceptable, because it is an interview and the direct doesn’t affect too much. On the contrary, it brings some changes to the video and attract audiences attention.
In all, I learned some points which should be paid attention to from these great works, and I will finish mine as soon as possible.
