Expression pictures

The most famous expression picture among the world is emoji. Emoji refers to some ideograms used in electronic messages. It originated from Japan in 1990s, and became more and more popular. Why people like to use emoji and other expression pictures for their chat?

I think using expression pictures can effectively reduce the embarrassment. When people want to start a chat, they can send emoji. Instead of sending ‘Hi’, a cute picture can easily start a conversation. if the person replies to this emoji, which means he/she is listen to you. Also, when people find that they want to reject something politely, they can send an ‘unhappy’ or ‘sorry’ emoji. In all, I think a picture can express more than a direct words.

Another point is that emoji make the relationship between me and my family closer. Before, the messages sent from my father were always very formal. I think parents and grandparents consider sending messages as a very formal issue. Sometimes, when I read the message from my grandfather, I almost think I am reading a letter. However, when I start to send emoji and pictures to my parents, they can learn to use these. For them, they can absorb new things and catch up the popular trend. For me, it is easier to send messages with them, and the atmosphere will be better.

So, generally, I think emoji (expression pictures) has already changed the way people send electronic messages. It makes e-messages so different from the real talking.
