1. The most successful and problematic aspects

I think the most successful aspect is the arrangement of question and the quality of answering. I spent lots of time on thinking about these interview questions, and these five questions are the valuable ones. Also, these questions are specific, so my interviewee can come up with his real experience, which makes the interview more vivid. Because I want to do a ‘documentary’ style, which means the interviewer will not appear in the video, so the answers should remind people of the questions. I think it is successful that these answers won’t make audiences feel confused. The most problematic part the connection way of each question in the video, especially the last two questions. It is hard to transfer the last question to the next question. In some situation, the jump cut is too hard, but the transaction effects are also not that proper. Finally, I put some footages with the background music, and the interview sound will come after few seconds. I am not very satisfied with the transaction part.

2. Key learning discovery

I think the most creative part in this video is the opening. Most people are not familiar with the topic ‘debate’, so if I directly start from the interview, people may feel confused. For this reason, I made the opening by putting a series of pictures which related to debate to tell people the idea. The opening of ‘The Big Bang Theory’ inspires me to do it. I find it is not easy to arrange the time of each picture, and I did lots of change to finally make this result. The fast switching of pictures ends with the title on the black ground. This effect can give a shock to audiences’ eyes.

3. What you learnt in the making process

In fact, I shot the interview twice. The problems for my first shooting is the setting. First, I chose a public study place, but there were people around, and we couldn’t choose the position we wanted. Also, the background was not suitable. After watching other’s video, I decided to do it again. This time, I did the shooting in my friend’s home. The background is the desk and computer in her home. This environment can make my interviewee more relaxed, and he had more time to prepare for all the questions. The light is also better and suitable for the shooting, so I got a good material this time.

Also, one of my friend who is studying photography came to help me shoot some footages. She helped me to set the camera, and got a nice composition. I think these footages (interviewee does some notes, watches the computer) work quite well. I should learn more from her about these photography issue.

This is the screen shot of my time line. The picture at the beginning is red because of my incorrect operation. I changed the file name so it shows lost the images. It is completed in my submitted video.
