Week two reading material presents the idea of old and new media. In the past, there were a small amount of producers, and most people as receivers, could just get these information passively. However, more and more people become producers with the development of technology. For example, people shoot videos by smart phone and upload them on YouTube or other video website. An interest video may attract millions of people to watch it. Compared to sit on sofa and watch daily news, viewing these short videos obviously brings more fun to audiences.
Furthermore, the author emphasises that “We should look at media as triggers for experiences and for making things happen.” Nowadays, people do not need very professional skills to become producers, but just make things because of their interests. They have particular motivations to shoot videos, take photos, record audios and etc. They hold the idea to exchange information, instead of spread information unilaterally.
I also agree with the opinion that one of the most important thing of media is creativity. Media workers should always think about how to make something new happen.
