This week’s workshop mainly talked about Project Brief 1, the self-portrait.
We watched Liam’s work and were asked to learn the colour hat system to give some comments. For me, the most attractive part is the photo called ‘leaf me alone’. It demostrates some pieces of rotten vegetable on the ground.
And here is my comments:
Green Hat: It is a creative idea. In her explanation, she thought these leaves as the symbol of lonely and boring life, but people should never give up themselves. It describes her attitude of life, so it greatly fits the ‘self-portrait’ project.
Red Hat: When I first see this photo, I felt the sadness and loneliness. However, after reading her explanation, I could get her idea and turned to think it as a positive photo.
Black Hat: Without seeing the explanation, I might ask what is that on the ground. Because this photo is quite abstract, audiences may be a little bit confuse at first and consider it as sadness like I do. However, sadness is not what she wants to show from this photo.
Later, I showed my own work to other classmates. They were very interested in one of my video, that filmed my grandfather cutting vegetables expertly. I’m also satisfied with this one. For feeling, I like the sound of the knife which creates a relaxed and delighted atmosphere.
However, the gym video is not so good. Black hat comments: this video is short and does not really make sense. I filmed it in a hurry to complete this project, so I just go upstair to the gym and shot it. For Project 2, I should arrange my time to get qualified materials.
