Discussinon for location, props and some others

After a long time of discussion, we decided  to choose the Hosier lane, the bridge opening which near the Flinders station and some places in our apartment to shoot our music video.  For the props, I came up with a idea of scattering power to make the scene become much more mysterious.  And we want to shoot some exaggerated and luxury scenes in the music video so that we bought some grandiose glasses, colorful scarves and clothes, some giant poker and so on.  I am very looking forward to our shooting . 

I want to learn more in this course

Last week, I write a post about what do I want to learn in this course. But now I want to add something about that.  I am really interested in how to use camera to show the emotion of the character in the music video, and how to set light to make the music video better.  Also, I want to know the how to make a non-narrative music video much more attractive and easy to understanding.

Reflection for week 2’s reading

From this week’s reading, I learnt about the Hurt’s music video style.  His lyrics often have backstory and the music is very cinematic and emotive.  Every music video creator should have freedom to some time and make the project of creating music video develop organically.  Some ideas of music video are just from our daily life and the music video represents them through a artistical way.  For my music video, I should pay more attention to some details in my daily life so that it can make the music video be more cinematic and emotive.  Also choosing a suitable character for the music video is very important and this can make the audience more easily to engage and understanding the video.

Through this week’s presentation, I saw many different styles of music videos.  At the same time, I learnt about how to analyze a music video comprehensively, such as from the shooting angle, slow motion, location choosing and so on. I really enjoy watching the music video together with our classmates.  For the music video that I chosen, it is a narrative one so that audience can understand the video much more easily.

Reflect on an aspect of the class exercises

In the Monday’s lesson, we have a class exercise, drawing a cucoloris, at first, I have no idea about what to draw.  There are many choice for me but I am not sure which is the best.  I search for the best picture in my mobile-phone. Finally, a picture that the character of it is my grandmother attracted me. I want to draw a cucoloris about my grandmother who is stand beside the chinese-style bridge and the chinese-style houses and temples behind her. I think this will be a little different from other classmates in this course.  I really enjoy the progress of drawing a cucoloris that I have never tried before.  Through this exercise, improving my skill of drawing should be improved in the future.  I like the creative production as well, I can find something that I pay no attention to in the daily life and I think it is very cool.

Thinking about the Thursday’s class, we enjoy several music videos in class and the tudor analyze the music video for us so that we can have a better understanding on the music videos.  I did not consider about the budget of creating a music video before. By the tutor’s analysis, I start to know that the creator should prepare a lot of things before start to create the video, such as brainstorm, choosing several suitable shooting location, finding some props and come up some good concept about the music video.

Also, the group activity in class is good for me to not only exercise my English but also improve the ability of communicating with each other at the same time.  I really enjoy staying together with my group members because they are all very kind and friendly.  What’s more we can help each other  and explore the course together

Reflection of week 1 reading

In this week’s reading, I found that music video like film that also can convey a story.  But sometimes the music video tend to be non-narrative.  And the music video should follow the song’s style and form.  Just like what the song sings about,  what should the music video should be.  So a music video should focus on the singer, reflect the lyrics and understanding the real meaning of the song. Furthermore, it is hard to say which is better in between the narrative one and non-narrative one.  Because they also have their own different attractive points.

what do I want to achieve in this course?

In this course,  I want to know how a music video can be a good music video and point out the importance of the music video medium that bring  a special feeling to the audience and make them feel enjoyable at the same time.  The tutor of this course can give us professional suggestions on how to make some comments on the music video and how to make a good music video.  In the end, the course can explore the reason why some music video is popular or not.

Also I am willing to learn about how to create a good music video in this course. Such as the skills of photography, light, editing and video direct.  As I think, this course can help me have a better understanding on some music videos, for example, the budget, props, costumes and characters in the music video so that the skills of analyzing music video can be improved as well.

When we work as a group,  we need to come up with ideas together and decide to choose the most suitable one for us to create our own music video. It is good for us to improve the ability of creative producing and thinking.  Due to my poor ability of editing, I want to have more chance to exercise the editing ability during this course. When we prepare for the presentation, we need to search for some music videos that we think is suitable to support our opinion.  It can push me to get in touch with a lot different styles of music videos so that it can make me know about some more different culture about some different music videos.

Furthermore, this course is like a guide, it leads us to find some different things in the world of music videos.
