The equipment used in this video are:
1K Fresenel lamp – 1
Dedo light kit – 1
Cutter boards – 2 (black & white)
C-stands – 2
Cannon Ex3 & tripod – 1
Colour gels (red, black, pink, green)
Diffuser gel – 1
In our planning, we wanted to create our indoor scene (first half of the film) to be more fantasy because we would like to build up a dream scene for the audience, using Dedo light, a Fresenel lamp and colour gels to achieve the unrealistic effect. We decided to shoot our indoor scene in Black Box as the background in the studio is really simple and clean so that we could play around with lighting. We chose the colour green, pink, red and black gels in our shooting.
The film starts with the view under a door so we stimulated the door with a white board held by two C-stands. The camera was put on the ground in order to get the lowest position to shoot. I asked the actress to take off her shoes which I am happy with the final result. In the scene where the actress picks up the book and read, we set up a dedo light other than the fresenel light which its light coming from the left side. A pink gel was put on the dedo to stimulate the light coming from the book. We cut out the light on other part of her body and only spread on her face. I did not think we stimulate the light very perfectly but this scene is really quick so I think it works. We allowed us three and a half hours to shoot the indoor scene. However, there were some problems of the camera which it stopped working somehow for several times. We sought help from the technical desk but no one knew what was happening. And soon it started working again. We wasted nearly half an hour and we missed two shots. There were people coming in the studio who booked the room later so we have to leave without the two shots completed. We fixed that in the process of editing. A black screen was put in between of the two unconnected shots and we did that several times in the film.
After all, I am happy with what we’ve got. It was a great chance to learn! Thanks to Robin and my friends.
