My group decide to do something different for this assignment to what we did last time for assignment three as this one is used for exhibition. I proposed to pay more attention to the audio part which there will be only photos shown in the video on the screen.
First, the theme that we choose to do is “ILLUSION”. I brainstormed the themes that I would like to do and wrote down on a paper which were illusion, sweet memory, Chinese soul, paradise, sun set and city lights.
I created a vote on WeChat to work out the theme that we wanted to do as Cindy was not able to make it. Illusion got the highest votes and became the one that my group would do.
Second, we discussed about the way that the video is going to be made. The video may only include one or two pictures. Illusion may come from the lonely souls in the big city. Underneath the bustling scene of the city, it is still difficult for people to hide the loneliness in their inner world. In this case, city views would be shot for the pictures. To make it more interesting, a sound wave would be added to the video throughout the whole session.

However, the one that our group will create is not a pure piece of music. Instead, we would like to create a piece which mixes the soundscape and music. According to the reading, “the soundscape of the world is changing”. There are too many different sounds in the modern world. What we tried to do is to capture the flashing sounds as many as we can and make the best use of it. Mute the unwanted parts, filter the noise and add effects on what have been left.
Third, we decide to go to Yarra river to shoot and record. Here are the sounds that I would like to record: sounds from restaurants, sound of the river, sounds of the traffic and sounds of people talking and laughing. The night view along Yarra river is fantastic which I suggest to go and try to shoot. Could also try at different time to get the best ones.
