Reflection
There are all ambient sounds being recoded and edited in my A1 project. I want my piece to be emotionally engaging to my audiences. I would like to create a soundscape of the process of me going to a class. So I recorded the sounds from the tram station, bathrooms, cafe, classroom and the street. There are sounds of piano, chair, footsteps, people chatting, water falling, door closing, lift, typing on the computer, breathing. I use more than 20 different sounds here to sculpt my soundscape. Some creative parts are in the beginning and the ending. The other parts I just try to make it as real as possible. First, I add reverb to the piano sounds to make them softer and sound more fantasy. Second, there are lots of footsteps in my piece but I only record three samples. In this case, I use time shift to change the speed of the footsteps sounds in order to make all the footsteps sound different. Third, Varifi is also used in the end. It is a little bit creepy but that is what I want for the piano sound which gradually fades out in the end of the audio piece and reminds the audiences it is over. Fourth, I add fade in and fade out to almost every track to make the sounds connected more natural. Fifth, EQ is what I add to the breath to adjust the space it creates. Sixth, I adjust the volume and cut off some parts of the samples to make them work well and make sure they sounds good, not too loud or too quite. The challenge that I encountered was that there was a mysterious sound track I have no idea where it came from and it cannot be muted. It just played in the middle of my piece. I had no idea how to cut it off as it cannot be seen on the tracks so I just adjust my recored sounds to it and I hope it sounds okay then.
