Just have read the reading of the first week, which tells us some basic functions and meanings of using blog, as a sort of new network media open to every body. With the incredible fast development of network technologies, the emergence of blog bring people a brand new and efficient way to communicate with others. As the lecture mentioned, it is greatly different from traditional media not only because it is new as a technology, but also it change the way people propose and receive ideas, from one-way mode (like TV and newspaper) to interactive communication. And it is still evolving now, which means the forms of blog is becoming more and more rich. For example, the word ‘micro-blog’ has been invented.
While, as I understand, the reading is actually more focusing on the way that blog affects education. Of course, encouraging students, especially who study media, to use new stuff like blog is good for making them prepared to face potential challenges in their future career and feel the changes undergoing in the media industry. Through exploring blog, they will develop the skills of using network technologies and enhance their understanding on the Internet which is changing the world we live in many ways.
