This is my first blog post and I have no idea how to start… so I guess I may start off by introducing myself. I am Krystal Chow, an international student doing my first year in Bachelor of Communication (Media) at RMIT University. I am 21 years old. I finished a media and communication foundation course last year. I have learnt a lot from it though everything is pretty much around basic skills. What so awesome is that me and my classmate did make a radio show live in SYN FM. We had a theme around uni life included saving money tips, annoying things while texting, what not to do in the library, Facebook shoutouts and paranormal stuff. Knowing that there is a BIG BLACK MICROPHONE inches from my mouth and people out there listening us on air, it was difficult as usually me and my classmate can talk endlessly and causally. But nonetheless, I did gain a lot of experience in the show.
Before I came to Melbourne and started all these media related courses, I am like have no knowledge about MEDIA. I have never used software like Photoshop and Final Cut. I did science and Maths in high school so all I know is very theory-based. I used to learn how to prove a theory but not to create one by myself. I don’t have to write a lot; I don’t have to think a lot; I don’t have to read a lot… I do have Facebook and Instagram but I never write blogs. Well… there is a blog like thing called Xanga, which is quite popular during my high school time. I had one for two years and I used to post lyrics, photos and those embarrassing moody status everyday. It is funny to read through all those innocent posts I made.
This is my first time to write a serious blog like this. Blogging actually sounds fun; I like the idea of “make stuff with media”. And I hope this blog can keep running until I graduate; to record every single piece of things I learn here. It will be a memorable piece of work.
