Lecture 8(Reading)

The post describes the situation and the author’s reflection about the largest gathering of enthusiasts of J.K. Rowling’s franchise at Orlando in the summer 2010. This post describes the while process of the evening including the actions of the J.K. Rowling’s fans and the journalists. At Orlando, everyone knows that the Hogwarts is not true, but the enthusiasts of the wonderland were gathering together to achieve an emotional integrity. One of the most important thing of gathering together the wizards at Orlando is the participators were all focused on the event and ignore other things even they are quite close around the visitors. The immersiveness created is comprehensive and effective by not to feature impersonators of the major characters but enhance the importance of environment in the park. This design create the immersion experiences for the audiences. During the half day event, there are almost 1,700 people attended the activity and most of them were costumed in Hogwarts wizard students. The design of the event works in this way that not enhance the importance of one single character in the novel, that made the audiences felt involved in the event’s process. The overall atmosphere of the night was filled with the participators’ childlike excitement. This activity could be considered as a successful combination of the work of the media and the Universal. At the same time, I also learnt that it is very important to create a free and equal scenario for the participators if the organizer wants to provide an immersion experiences for the visitors, every detailed events are the keys to a successful event.
