A jumble of thoughts
A friend told me this moment:
He was on the train, and a woman got on to the carriage holding a fast food paper bag and a large Pepsi. When she sat down, she squeezed the soft drink container, and it burst. My friend describes this moment as if it is in slow motion, exaggerating the woman’s expression as her Pepsi bursts in front of her. As it bursts, she drops the cup in surprise. Her face is crestfallen. Then, the train leaves the platform, and the pool of Pepsi at her feet starts to move towards the back of the carriage. Everyone on the carriage watches it travel across the floor. It creeps towards a man, and he watches it pass between his feet and underneath the seat. Once the Pepsi has spread as far as it can go, everyone looks back at their phones. The woman starts eating a burger.
Yesterday:
It took me hours to get out of bed. I had dreamed of going to Coles and buying strawberry milk, and how refreshing it would be. I get very dehydrated when I’m sleeping. I got out of bed at 2 and walked to Coles. I also bought some rice bubbles for future meals. As I was walking back, I was drinking the milk from the spout and I spilled it all down my white t shirt. The sticky pink liquid stuck to my skin. I wasn’t wearing a bra. Another layer of grime to cling to.
I kept walking down the street and I saw a women sitting on the footpath, surrounded by shopping. She was wearing a brown fur jacket, and she had two dogs hanging around near her, with the same coloured fur. She looked pretty dejected, yet formal. She looked as all over the place as I felt, but more elegantly so. I look like a bum right now, but in the future I will look fabulous when I spill milk all over me, or get my bike stolen, or spend a year unemployed. I really loved that image of the woman in fur looking confused and upset. I stood across the road watching her and drinking strawberry milk. She didn’t notice me.
Daydream:
I imagined a rectangle, like an old television, and close up of a man’s face and shoulders. Around him, it looked like painting (translucent), and then sequins fell like rain. He was slightly shaking. Lots of poses, then a woman, hand across face, tongues, bones, blow drying hair, waxing off the skin, shaking.
Pictures from the weekend:
Including, moments from the beach, when a friend and I made the most of the fleeting sun, my guinea pig mouse, enjoying the sunshine and shooting demo videos for a friends band.
