In this class, except for the discussion and theoretical touch, one of the core factors for us to experience and absorb knowledge, I think, is that we are given a lot of conditions to do the exercises. And along with that, we get to work in groups from the first days and throughout the learning process. I think this is a good opportunity for us to experience the feeling of working with a group, because I think the ability to collaborate is an essential thing for not only the educational path but also the entire career. later if I follow this path. Collaboration not only helps us complete assignments effectively, but also helps us learn to listen to others’ opinions, express our opinions clearly, and build solutions together. This accurately reflects working patterns in the media and film industries, where projects are often delivered by teams of teams with separate roles.
From film production to editing, from cinematography to production management, everyone must work together to achieve a common goal. Collaborating in groups helps build my communication skill, time management, and work division skills. Besides, another huge benefit of these activities is that I can learn a lot from my classmates. Because most of the exercises are assigned and done right during the class with a limited amount of time, we have to plan most of the exercises right then, and that helps me expand my understanding beyond just working alone.
I especially enjoyed the class-wide activities, where we “simulated” and “recreated” a movie set. The reason is that as I have mentioned a number of times, it gave me the experience of working in this industry in a real way. I know that if I really work in this field, I will have to work with many colleagues, when in regular films just one department would be a strong team. Shooting and dividing work in this situation also helps me practice group skills and better reflexes.
