During my first week in Deliberate Film, I learnt a little more about the avalible shortcuts in Premiere Pro. I already knew the really basic ones – ‘c’ for razor tool (which then annoyingly changes to ‘r’ in Audition), ‘v’ for select tool, all the basic ones that also apply elsewhere on a computer – but my editing tends to be a little clunky. I learnt a few new ones in class that were invaluable (my favourite being the comma key that inserts clips at the end of the timeline, rather than leaving everything open at the end as a ‘palette’ (thanks for that analogy Paul!).

I then went home and researched it further. There’s so many that it’s quite overwhelming, but I definitely dug up a few favourites. They included hitting ‘g’ for audio gain (no more tedious right click!) as well as the ‘a’ key, which allows you to select everything right of a certain point (which can then be grouped using ‘ctrl g’).
