For our homework exercise we were given an exert from the film ‘Eighth Grade’ with the objective of analysing what the possible costs were for filming. We were given a scene breakdown template to assist us in analysing costs, which includes location, props, cast and extras, specialist crew, and any additional requirements.

Although the script was listed as a single scene, it could actually be broken down into five separate locations; so five separate scene breakdowns had to be filled out. Many of the props, etc. were constant as all the scenes occurred on the same day as filming, so no changes needed to be made to the actors costuming or make up, and they largely kept the same props. All props mentioned were essential to put in the scene breakdown, as well as others that might appear in scene dressings etc. These documents are particularly useful when trying to put together a budget for a film.
