As this time my aim for the project 2 is ‘Not only a documentary of their lives, but also a representation of their emotions to Melbourne’, so I am trying to capture people’s daily lives but show their emotions at the same time, basically is trying to communicate something to the audience. However for a film, the images, music and the acting are all important to express the emotions, the images may be the most intuitive way of expression. Thus I am trying to shoot some photos to practice to express the emotions.
According Nobuyoshi Araki (a famous Japanese photographer and contemporary artist), he said to take natural photos, you have to get in touch with people first. Thus for this photo I was trying to photograph her the most relaxing and comfortable moment, she was quite nervous to behave in front of the camera at first, so I led her to do different movements and talked to her to make her relax, then I finally captured this moment. In this photo I think I expressed the peaceful and relaxed feeling of her, it’s very soft but still can see a little bit nervous of her.
For this photo I wanted to show her real daily life moment but in a positive way, so I wanted to capture her happy moment. This time I was using the same way to led her to be relaxed, which was talking to her and leading her, then she finally gave me a happy look. Additionally I think in this photo I delivered the happy and comfortable feeling to audience in her smile and relaxed body movements.
To sum up, after this practicing I think I kinda know how to lead my interviewees to be relaxed in front of camera, and how to capture their real emotions in somehow. Also I do see the differences between the fake acting and the real emotion expression in images, so I will try harder to make my film real and natural to express the emotions.
