Since the last semester’s work made me feel disappointed in both quality and whole making process (especially teamwork), in this semester I’ve made decision that I would put all my efforts on making a good film and avoiding all the mistakes we made.
At the first class we fortunately formed the group and we decided to think up our own ideas before next class for the first project, thus I started brainstorming and have a draft for the first project — I want to make a dramatic short film which is about 2-3 minutes, and I want to make it in combine horror and comedy genre. Then to make it dramatic, it should includes a reversed script or fresh content, so I am planing incorporating the recent hot live webcast into the theme which I got inspired by a movie <Searching>, the film follows a father trying to find his missing 16-year-old daughter by cracking his daughter’s social network password (Loughrey & Clarisse, 2018). It shows the current development of the Internet is omnipotent and causing personal privacy leaks. And this film is so creative that it set entirely on computer screens and smartphones to narrative the story, so I come up with a story of a popular university girl student podcaster who was killed while doing a live broadcast in her apartment bedroom at night during weekend. However some parts of my story needs to be reconsidered because the live content is quiet hard to show on the screen (we don’t have much ability to do effects) and the live podcast will limit the expression of emotions and shots, also the story will be hard to combine the comedy genre.
