Looking at Vine / How To Embed a Vine

I’ve avoided Vine until now for a few reasons.

  • I’m lazy. I’m busy enough watching movies and TV shows and webseries.
  • I have an addictive personality. I have the ability to watch ridiculous amounts of anything, and Vines are no exception.
  • I don’t care about other people. I mean, I do. But I don’t want to watch six seconds of someone’s life if I don’t care about them, you know?
  • I’m lazy. Oh, I already said that.

But I may have been converted. For example, I recently discovered Mashable’s Vine Competitions. There’s one for new Vine shows, and a bunch of dinosaur Vines.

Also, embedding is harder than I thought it would be. In fact, it’s pretty darn unintuitive. There’s no shortcode for Vine vids on WordPress.org, and looks like there’s not complete iFrame support either. All in all, a bit of a mess if you’re not using Twitter, Facebook or Tumblr.

So, HOW TO EMBED A VINE VIDEO

The code for that above was:

<p><iframe src=”https://vine.co/v/hi5LzAXaPM9/card?mute=1″
width=”500px” height=”500px” frameborder=”0″></iframe></p>

Replace that code with your video URL and enjoy. (If you’re having trouble finding the URL, share the Vine to Facebook or Twitter, and use the URL that pops up when it’s shared. (See below.)
