In this exercise I included my favourite piece of audio from the second interview with my subject. I chose to interview my subject when he was relaxed and a bit tired as I noticed in the first interview that he spoke quickly and could sometimes be erratic. This resulted in slower speech and slurred words. I took a liking to this piece because I felt it reflected my subject’s connection to surfing on a deeper and more spiritual level. I particularly wanted the audio to speak for itself as the description is very vivd. This is why I just have a black screen as he describes sitting out on the water in the rain. I then introduce some audio of water droplets which increase in volume. I chose to do this as I wanted my audience to really listen to the words and picture what is being described. Perhaps I should have included some footage at the end but I like the simplicity of this clip. Compared to the other exercises, I don’t think it feels as though too much information has been crammed into a short space of time. The tempo is a lot slower and this I feel, emulates the serenity of being in the water.
