This week we discussed Climate Catastrophe and the various representations media gives to it – from Blade runner 2049, to the Australian Film 2040. This is an area of interest for me as I have experienced the early effects of this climate disaster as I saw my friends’ homes burn in the Black Summer bushfires at the beginning of 2020. I think my final piece in this class will be concerned with Climate Change as it is an area I have some experience creating media in.
The assignment #2 showcase was as always fantastic to see – I’m always so surprised by the variety of interpretations to briefs we are given. Each piece was really its own entity and explored the themes we have discussed in an individual way. I particularly liked Tom’s piece and am planning to use some of the Data Moshing effect he utilised in my final piece as I feel it fits well with work surrounding Climate Breakdown.
