Reflection #3: Critiqued and feedback

It felt nerved-wrecking knowing that my work was being read and critiqued by someone else. I wasn’t sure if my work was good enough to be read and feared that the reader might not understand the story at all. I knew that certain parts of my story were lacking in terms of the character and the setting. I was not sure if I was able to relay the character characteristic well and how well the setting helps to uncover more about the character. When I received the feedback I expected a “bad” feedback however the feedback really helps me to rethink about my story. It was great to see from a different perspective and how I can further develop my story. As mentioned in the feedback it would have been better if the story focuses more towards the crime drama genre and then the twist of events at the end of the story. In that way the audience will be submerged in the seriousness of the crime happening instead of the protagonist sarcastic comments on people. I totally agree with the feedback because it has helped me see from that person perspective on how I should make my story flow better. The feedback was useful in helping me shift certain plots around.

It was interesting reviewing another work because of the unique ideas that they were able to come up with. While reading another peer work you then start to think “why didn’t I think of that” and so on. It helps to expand one’s imagination and creativity. It also challenge yourself to go beyond your safe zone and think out of the box. As much as I fear people reading my works, I feel that it is actually good so that we can get different perspectives, feedback and learn from others through their work.
