Audio

Your objective is to “describe” the location so that it is identifiable to the listener. Does it evoke the sense of place where it was recorded? If so, why?

In the beginning of the audio you hear faint background voices and slowly you can hear the voices getting louder as they come nearer to the microphone. In the background you will also hear multiple “peet” sounds and followed by a louder one. The voices starts to amplify and becomes clearer. It sounds like they are in an enclosed area since you hear less background noises. The background noise seems to be cut off thus you are able to focus and hear the voices around the microphone better.  In the midst of hearing the voices you will suddenly hear “Level 8, Going Up”. We recorded this in the lift when people started entering. The sounds of people pushing the lift button was what could be the lift even though you cannot really hear the lift door closing. We cannot hear the sound of lift closing because the mic was not directed exactly when the door shuts. When you hear towards the end you will know that it is a lift because of the sound “Level 8, Going up”.

At the start you hear a light downpour but the sound slowly fades and stopped. Next you hear someone pushing a button and a gush of wind could be heard. The sound of the wind slowly fades. This location is the toilet because the sound of the light downpour was the tap water running and slowly the amount of water running decrease, making the sound faint. You can also hear the water being cut off like someone turning it off. The sound of the blasted wind was the hand dryer. The first sound was like a tap running thus the next sound would be a hand dryer. It is a hand dryer because of the loud sound of wind. You can only find hand dryers in the toilets.
