Filming in the dark | Sacred Place

After putting together our shot list, we booked a room to film our opening shots. We are thinking of starting our video with an apple laptop turning on, followed by the lens zooming in on a laptop screen, possibly accompanied in editing with a combination of technology and social media sounds e.g. typing, ringtone, Skype, etc. I’m really fond of using the laptop as our only light source. I think it emphasises the darkness and isolation of Indri and the harshness of the light from the screen creating shadows and strong contrasts. We filmed from a variety of angles and distances, as we wanted to be safe and have more footage than less so the video has more dimension. Learning from our previous project, I’ve found that having a a combination of wide, medium, close up and extreme close up shots makes the video a lot more interesting and visually engaging.
