Week 9 marked the introduction of our team, consisting of Jaz, Trevor, and myself. We have delved into brainstorming sessions to seamlessly merge the ‘Real World’ into our media finals. Our ideation process has resulted in potential project concepts, including ‘Melbourne: A Lost City’, a virtual experience that takes users back to Melbourne City before the 2000s. This experience aims to provide an exploration of the city’s hidden cultures and histories before mass constructions of high-rise buildings. Another idea is ‘The Dream/Conscious State,’ where users can experience a ‘dream state’ and gain insight into other individuals’ dreams.

The early concepts that we have developed are inspired by real-life experiences and their ability to highlight the concept of duality. We have incorporated many motifs, such as the use of ‘tunnels’ and small spaces to allude to the idea of ‘tunnel vision.’ Additionally, our team would like to experiment with split-scene video editing to replicate the overwhelming sense of struggling with divided attention. We aim to create a sense of being overstimulated through ‘textural overload,’ emulating a flight, fight, or freeze response through AR concepts. These ideas are still in the development phase, and we are continually refining them to craft a virtual experience that is both engaging and impactful. It is crucial to consider the emotional response of users and ensure that our concepts align with our project’s themes; Our project aims to ignite the 5 senses and create a strong viewing experience for the audience.
