Light always is the important part in a film, for me, light is a way to express emotion, color, the style of movie and the character. In a film, the light not only about bright or dark but also for the subject be visible. Lighting in the film can help create the composition of each shot and attract audience attention to certain objects and actions.Just like dark light or a shadow may create suspense to audience.
Before shooting, the filmmaker should thinking about on four key points about light: the quality, direction, source and color. The quality of light separate hard and soft light. Hard light create a very clear shadows,crisp textures and sharp edges. Soft light makes people warm and looks nature.  I think the important part is the direction of the light. Different direction of light create different feeling. Such as the under lighting, the light comes from below the subject. It’s often used to create dramatic horror effects.
After yesterday’s class exercise, I found light still be the big issue, I think i need to practice more on use light and analyze more.
