During this week, we shoot and edited our individual exercises in a group of three. Each member asked to shoot a short film and helps other crew. Lisha, xiaochen and I played different roles during the shooting.
1. During Xiao Chen’s shooting, I was the camera operator and I did a good job on that because we have a good communication on each shot, such as the framing, location and drama. It’s an important process to learn how to collaborate with others and communicate your ideas with others.

2.On Lisha’s work, I am the actor. Even I am not a professional actor, it’s my duty to carry the character when we worked in a small group. Unity is important and understanding the requirement of director also important.

In my work, my story was a girl finished her work; sits on the stairs waited her friends prepared back to home. A man passed by and saw her, notice her bag and want to steal it. He sited near the women trying to have a conversation. Women’s phone ringed, she asked the man take care of her bag then left. After she left, the man steal her bag then leaved.

I shoot twice, first time I shoot on the forth floor stairs in building 9, and after I edited I found it’s not good, I need more shots so I decided shoot second time. The location is on level one stairs outside the building 9. I was more focus on the coverage.

The first work, the biggest problem in the work is lighting. Two different lights come in that I can’t get the right light which causes the character’s face was dark. After the first shot, I used hand-held, shoot the women’s back, it’s very difficult to keep balance that causes the frame shaking. As we worked in a small work, so I can’t get a good sound between their conversation, and during the shooting, the environment sound was too noisy. Overall, the coverage is good, I need to prepare more when next time shooting, need to consider the light and environment sound.

The second work, I think it’s better than the first one. The light and background were good. I didn’t put on sound in this work because it’s too noisy and I think it does not need to have sound.

Overall, both works has their problem and I need to notice them when the next time shooting. But I think I did a good job on coverage.
