Our Media 2 Studio class began with a debrief of this weeks reading and looking into how satire and parody can form a comedy news segment. We then broke into groups of 3 (A, B and C) which will be our production team to form our PB2 comedy news segment. We then moved into the practical component on the studio , first we discussed how to go about research. When researching our topic ‘Tough on Crime’, I was given the research task on focusing on this idea with a special interest towards the psychology behind it (FEAR implementing strategies). Then we finally got to practice and learn the roles in the studio. Learning the classic camera angles, how to count down as the floor manager and how to conduct the whole process as the director, we switched roles between the studio room and the control room. After this class I had a much greater understanding behind the roles and responsibilities behind making a news segment, it also found inspiration and ideas behind how to begin the assignment through the research phase.

Feeling very stressed right now as I try to finalise my PB 3 my film isn’t exporting properly and I don’t know how to fix it :(( I’m trying to make sure I’ve got everything ready to go for submission however the people shown in my film keep forgetting to fill in their release forms so I feel really mean because I keep nagging them. However I’m going to ask a lecturer this week with help exporting and should be getting the forms in soon, so I’ll be less stressed shortly (lets hope so, my fingers are crossed).

In this week’s media 1 tutorial. Another shooting exercise was conducted in order write and shoot a film and produce it without an editing process. This was a struggle for our group as we lacked our creative minds that day (being the first class back after easter break) to create a story. We also kept forgetting we couldn’t edit this story so therefore it was hard to find ways to keep the narrative flowing and introduce titles in a different approach (can’t make titles in editing). In this tute I also got to look at my peers rough cuts and Brian gave me some good advice of editing your doco to tell their story in a different way, try not to be generic.
