EMERGENCY RELIEF Lentara has a long and successful track record of providing emergency relief and material aid to the communities that it serves in the North and West of Melbourne.

During 2014-15 we provided over 6,200 food parcels and $340,000 in material aid to more than 5,500 families residing in our community. Lentara also continued to both broaden and consolidate its position as a leading provider of emergency relief during 2014- 15.

Lentara was successful in securing a new 2-year funding agreement to deliver Emergency Relief across the North and West of Melbourne, funded by the Department of Social Services (DSS) with assistance from Share, the fundraising arm of UnitingCare Victoria & Tasmania.

This service will be delivered from facilities at Broadmeadows, Sunshine Mission and Sydenham. Community Services Funding By Source (FY2015) Key 2014-15 Achievements: Lead agency for the Hume Moreland Financial Counselling Program, funded by Consumer Affairs Victoria Lead agency for the DSS-funded UnitingCare Emergency Relief Partnership across Victoria 2-year agreement with DSS to provide Emergency Relief across the North and West of Melbourne 5-year contract extension by the Commonwealth Government to June 2019 to facilitate the Communities for Children Program in Hume. Awarded Level 1 accreditation with the Judith Lazarus Transition Centre Other Grants 14.4% Local Government 0.1% Donations 7.1% Other Income 1.8% Fees 0.1% State Government 23.1% Federal Government 53.5% Family Services 11% Emergency Relief 17% Financial Counselling 14% Community Housing 8% Communities for Children 35% Lentara is also the lead agency for the UnitingCare Emergency Relief Partnership whose members include other UnitingCare agencies funded by DSS to deliver Emergency Relief throughout Victoria.

This leadership role will ensure best practice is shared across the UnitingCare Network and that a broader advocacy voice is developed to ensure the needs of community members in financial crisis are highlighted at all levels of government.
