Semester One Studio: Lentara Collaboration

I walked into my very first Media 3 studio class (late (and with a coffee which is probably the worst look)) not having a very great idea about what this particular studio class was going to involve. However, I knew that there were two aspects of this studio I was actually quite excited about.

1. The chance to collaborate with communication design students. I love meeting people from other courses and learning about what they do. I also knew it would be rearly beneficial to see how these students would approach prompts, ideas, and project briefs with their course background, in comparison to myself and the other media students.

2. Working with my classmates in order to help, assist, and support a non for profit organisation. At uni I so often feel as though a lot of what we do is quite tedious, and at times, pretty pointless. So the opportunity to  work with a real organisation that is doing so many great things for the community was something I knew would be extremely motivating and satisfying. We work pretty hard in our studies at RMIT so it just makes sense to put all of that hard work, motivation and energy into something worthwhile. So that real life people will actually benefit, regardless of how bit or small of benefit that may end up being.

Seth and Peter, our studio leaders, explained to us how they really wanted the whole design and workings of the class to develop organically. So that we were able to naturally grasp an understanding of Lentara and in turn create our own unique ideas and proposals for the work we would be doing.

I am genuinely looking forward to this studio class. To be able to work alongside, and hopefully successfully assist, a non for profit organisation that does so much for our community and for so many struggling people is going to be such a rewarding opportunity.
