WHY WE USE BLOGS:

Our lecture began by rehashing the reason we are using blogs, the reason, well its to document, record achievements, showcase ideas, to develop multiple literacies and the collaborate and interact in an online space. So how does this relate to us, well quite simply we are not blogging enough. They reinforced how our posts can be of varying lengths and forms, not only that but we can also have various voices that we use such as scholarly, professional, conversational or humorous. We were also told link in our posts, and credit other people when discussing or reviewing others work.

Now whilst i have been blogging on my lectorials, workshops and readings we have been heavily advised to document on out media consumption (screening, TV, movie, youtube, radio, CD, books etc.), to discuss problem we encounter and the solution we found, the way we notice media and our connections to other experiences within media.

Our blog is also a reflective practice in a way and I ensure that I reflect on action, here is a guide we were shown that I will defiantly follow.

  1. description: what happened
  2. feelings: thoughts/feelings
  3. evaluation: good and bad
  4. analysis:what sense can you make? what else could you have done?
  5. action plan:if it arose again, what would you do?

as media students we discussed how important it is to USE A VARIETY OF MEDIA in our blogs. So from now on I’m not only going to up the content I use on my blogs, such as writing multiple blogs the workshops/lectures but also talking about the things I notice around me. I want to use videos, photos, sound and links to enhance my blog make it more fun and engaging.
