In our workshop this week we spent a bit of time looking at people last exercise when recording the audio using the new recorders. This was interesting to know that everyone had similar issues and problems such as background noise, which most people struggled with. Especially when recording outside often sounds such as tram noises or coffee machines were effected by background noise where the combination of people moving around, talking objects being moved all created this loud static behind our audio. This is something I think I need to experiment with more, using Adobe Audition to edit out this background noise.
We also spoke about out lecture and how important audio is in an interview, we also discussed signs. When we look at signs we must pay attention to the context, because context gives things meaning e.g. a piece of wood in a garage is a tool whereas a piece of wood in an art gallery is contemporary art. The context helps us to generate an idea about the message of the text, likewise with context genre can cue us into what we are meant to think/feel.
Its important to note the wider public context and how is it consumed by the public, often these signs we pay attention to are created by our society as a whole and this ideal we share in our everyday lives.
Louise made us consider Gina Liano as an individual and what she is a sign of, Giana is a middle age Australian woman who is a junior barrister who acts predominantly in the Children’s Court and is also a television personality. She is a sign of the reality program Real Housewives of Melbourne and on this she is a representation of wealth, glamour and in many ways is an aspirational woman to viewers. She also has her own show range and perfume assisting this representing go beauty. Her clothing matches this as she constantly is recognised for her big hair and 80’s outfits, which are low cut and very dressed up.

We spoke of street interviews and how the audio would be conducted, often two minutes would be used such as a boom mic, a clip on mic and perhaps a mic on the camera. Despite all these forms of audio more often than not foley audio is used because this is the most effective way to get the cleanest an highest quality sound.
