1. From my studio, I choose two students’ media works, first one is Shanshan Gao’s short film which is called ‘External love’. The content of this story appeals to me because it is a love story between a robot and a human and it also combines modern, future technology themes. In the age of Internet, the topic of artificial intelligence is hot and most young people like to watch love movies including me. Her “proof of concept” project proved the movie story world she wanted to show, and I could clearly understand her idea of combining romance film and future technology. A sci-fi movie like her will have a lot of imagination space, which will make the audience have more to watch and make the merchants want to promote this movie. However, as a new type of filmmaker, making science and technology films may give her great challenges. For example, she needs to be familiar with how to use multiple software to make sci-fi scenes.

Next one is Amanda Kezia Tanderitz’s short film which is called ‘Why’. Her film and I have a little similar so that I am interested in it, her movie content is about the contradiction between mother and daughter, the same is my films have a fragment have similar points such as movie will I mention the problem of the boy and his father but the problem is not my film. Her films would shoot with multiple shots, some of which I had not learned before, which made me learn a new knowledge after seeing them. Her “proof of concept” is also a good proof of her ideas, and I think a relationship movie is a good place to start for a novice filmmaker. I think they are very successful in using their proof of concept short film to justify their long narrative or idea. I learn a lot from their projects, and one of the things is to have more ideas about writing scripts, or ways to justify my long form ideas in other forms.

2.Form other studio ‘The power of the cut’ discusses the sound design and music of the work through narrative, documentary and commercial editing styles which also is the key idea of the studio. And then uses these three different editing styles as a portfolio to showcase their skills as an editor. In this studio, students can practice their cooperation ability because they need to shoot and direct with their actors, and they will share their personal experiences with each other. Finally, it is for the creation of their own products to promote. The first work is Dani atherton’s ‘Falling in love with a perfect stranger’, his editing series are Enchant, ToTheMax and Jewell, I also made the project by combining the form of commercial advertisements and documentaries. Second project is Emily cox’s work. Her content is quite interesting. She uses the form of narration and documentary to record the story of Ashe’s commitment to the aerobics movement for the advertising of aerobics. I think these projects are a big project, and they need to use three different editing styles to present them to the audience in their videos. I think it is very difficult for me to edit the video. It is a complicated thing because it takes time for me to patiently cut the video content that I want to shoot. However, they show their works to the audience in this studio, which shows that they have their own unique editing style and editing skills.
