Assignment 2: Tests
Script:
Time-lapse
Time-lapse exercises were the most interesting and effective one, and it was easy to make, I figure if I don’t have enough footage to fill in the gap of the final production, time-lapse is a good thing. I have ideas like shooting people eating in a certain place, walking on the street etc.
Smoothie bowl
This exercise is about shooting a cooking process. This is helpful because I experimented how to do the lighting and multi-camera shooting and editing. The sound recording was a failure at this time but it makes me realize that sometimes we need to have a plan b and creative about the method.
Interview
This interview was shot on the street, with a random stranger. It was hard to do this exercise perfectly because we couldn’t find an indoor place with enough light, and an outdoor place with the least sound. So there is much noise in the background.
Vox-pox
The vox-pox was something I wanted to do at the beginning of the project because I want to know how people react to the authentic Chinese food topic. I realized afterwards that many of these answers are too shallow and unvalued to me, but it certainly worth trying to do so.
Montage edit
Montage exercises help me realized how edit can affect the video. In the group, we all shoot the same footages, but the results are different through different edit.
Split screen
The original footages of split screen video are the same one from montage edit. Again, with different edit method, putting different videos together creates a story or theme.
But I don’t think I would use that kind of montage edit, putting different videos together to create a story. On the other hand, I want to use sound like a connection to link different footages, with same framing, same camera movements…
