Prompt 10

Having the panelists give feedback in the week 9 project presentations was very helpful for ironing out the details of my project and exploring new options as well. I was very nervous for my presentation but when I got down to it i think it went better than I had expected. The fact that other classmates had very openly shared their ideas for their own projects made me feel more comfortable doing so with my own project.

I received some very useful feedback from the panelists, the first piece of feedback being that I should explore the journey and origins of e-wastage in major countries such as America and Australia, following how it is that they come to end up dumped in continents like Asia and Africa. I have addressed this feedback by adding a sequence at the start of my video giving a close up perspective of various types of e-wastage going through sorting, packaging and eventually being transported. I feel as though the addition of this segment contrasts and transitions well when the video moves to the setting of Agbogbloshie, an e-wastage dumping site in Ghana.

Another piece of feedback that I received was in relation to my intentions of creating a soundscape that conveys the damage that the e-wastage does to the people who harvest it and the land it is dumped on. The feedback was to use a vast variety of sound clips to get the feeling of danger across. To implement this I have decided to include sound clips of flames and fire, as well as smoke, coughing, and breathing sounds as well. I used these particularly in the second half of the video as this soundscape combines best with the footage I have used later on in the video as they have darker tones and color palettes.
