Screen Project 2: Presentation feedback & Storyboard
From the presentation feedback, I was attracted to the idea of layering. Dan and Paul recommended incorporating the poem through voice-over or/and text on the screen. I didn’t realize I did the same thing for my Word video until my professor James reminded me. Rewatching the Word video, I think applying the sound and text layering technique to the animated video would make it more powerful.
I plan to use sound effects, background music, and voice-over. I might record the poem in Vietnamese, and write the English version on the screen because this method worked for the Word video. Regarding the scenes, I mainly try to recreate the imagery in the poem. The other images are activities in response to the signs of autumn. For instance, the cool wind would make people put on warmer clothes, such as long socks. Drinking green tea at a sidewalk tea shop to fully absorb the autumn breeze and sun is a common activity in Hanoi. I also tested out the brushes and colors. I think the color scheme on the mood board combines with soft brushes can depict the tranquility represented in the poem well.
The next step of the project is to plan out the movements carefully. I have learned that animating is much easier when the video is well-thought-out right from the sketching stage. It is not easy to delete and redraw later on. One crucial factor of the project that I will soon have to face is determining which movement must be created by hand, and which can be created in After Effects.
