Screen Project 2: Research on Illustration
Aside from the research on animated short films, I need to find more references in other formats before determining the drawing style I want to pursuit. The two websites Dribble and Behance have a lot of creative works from freelance artists, studios, organizations, etc. Later, I created a mood board with references to the style of the characters, backgrounds, and color scheme. The mood board not only stimulates visualization but also forces me to be selective.
My animation process will have 4 main steps: draw in Procreate, create video timelines in Photoshop, animate in After Effects, and do the final editing in Premiere Pro. I would like to employ a variety of brushes to draw, color, and shade. The ultimate goal would be to create drawings that appear hand-drawn and are not overly constrained by clean lines/color fill. The backgrounds will be created by shapes and shading. The objects and characters present in the backgrounds will be more detailed and animated. I reckon the mood board represents my intentions well. I hope with my nonexistent drawing skill, I will be able to bring my imagination to the screen.
