It was a typical hot summer day. She wore a flowy summer dress that moved with her every time she walked. For some reason, she thought Pho Ga sounded appetizing for a day like that. She put the chicken bones in the pot, poured in plenty of water, and turned on the gas stove to start making the broth.
She then walked to the pantry and took out an onion. She turned on another gas stove and put the onion on top of it. Her eyes focused on the onion, her skin was glistening with sweat and her dress stuck to her body. Looking at her face, the heat of the summer day and fire did not seem to bother her. She turned the onion frequently to make sure the onion skin was burned completely. After a while, she turned off the gas and put the onion under running water. The skin automatically fell off to reveal the sweet aroma of roasted onion.
‘What a hassle! But I know without this, Pho Ga would not taste the same.’ she smiled.
She then quickly placed the onion inside the pot with the chicken bones and let the ingredients work their magic.
