For Assignment 4, I have decided to continue working on the same topic as Assignment 3. After compiling statistics I got from the audiences and comments which I received, I planned a few changes in my approach to Assignment 4.
In my survey for the previous assignment, I asked my audience what kind of content they would like to see more. Many of them request to see more Asian recipes, my daily meals, and dessert recipes. The feedback which I got from Fan and Will is to narrow down my target audience. Trevor also said that it is crucial to target a niche audience in order to get the best reactions and engagements. At first, I was only creating videos about food in general and I realized this approach is too broad for a new channel.
Although young adults from 18-29 are still my target audience for Assignment 4, I decided to create videos that are focused on Asian food to target a specific group of audience. At the same time, I will deliver my message on raising nutritional health awareness clearer in upcoming videos. I will also make changes in my title, description, and upload time to gain views. The two major sources that drive views come from related videos recommendation and the search bar (Zhou et al. 2016). As YouTube recommends videos based on title and description, I will be adding keywords such as the main topic of the video or the dishes presented in the video so viewers are aware of the content (Zhou et al. 2016). Moreover, the video has more chances of appearing upon search if it has specific keywords (Zhou et al. 2016). For the upload time, I will change it to the evening as it is the second-most popular time for using social media among the age of 18-29 (Sensis 2018). I decided not to post early in the morning although it is the most popular time as I assume people only have time to watch longer videos at night.
For the next 2 videos, I planned to make videos about Vietnamese dinner and Asian dessert recipes. I love to cook Asian food and these are also the most requested topics according to the survey’s responses. This time, I will not send the videos to family and friends as I would like to see the actual result of all the changes I made.
