Making Sense of Social Media // Post 3 assignment #1

When choosing ‘Making Sense of Social Media’, I was expecting to learn about how social media operates in detail and have a chance to apply what I learned by creating my own content.

Two-way communication is the key to connect and engage with readers. With my personal and business accounts, I recognize that people enjoy discussing. Posts that provoke discussion always have better engagement and receive more attention than others. With those understandings, two-way communication is one of the first criteria I will consider when creating content in this studio. Social media is highly interactive in its nature so I want my content to reflect that characteristic.

The Sensis reports will come in handy when I need to research about the target audience. Base on the surveys, I could quickly tailor my content to what my target audience will be interested in. I can also know where should I post and when to post according to my target audience’s habit. If the target audience is males and females from 18 to 29, I should distribute my content to Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube because these are the most used social media sites. Follow that, I will decide to post in the morning or evening to get the most views. The reports also have questions relating to the mentality of consumers that I could benefit from. With the surveys, I am more confident with the potential of the content I will create.

Due to the Instagram stories on quarantine camp I chose to write about, I aim to create content that will have a similar effect. In this studio, I intend to produce content that has appealing visuals and a certain positive message. It is the type of content that I generally seek, remember and share on social media. I believe my biggest motivation is generating content that I know I will like.
