Coming into this studio I knew the basics of editing on Premier Pro, and was eager to learn new methods and techniques to improve my skillset though, I would say that my editing style and technique haven’t changed within the first 3 weeks of the semester. Something I have learnt is how to “set up my edit correctly” through the use of bins, labelling and colouring clips before attempting to cut the media.. Read More
In class 5.1 we had a screening of everyone’s Lenny edits, while this became very repetitive it was really interesting to see how different groups had a) filmed the scene and b) edited the scene. Despite many people using the same group’s footage each edit was slightly different depending on where someone had chosen to cut, what shots to use during the dialogue exchange, the speed of shots and the use of reverse.. In class 5.2 we shifted editing styles to documentary, we were put into groups of 3-4 and had to film and interview each other for 15 minutes about our ‘significant moments’. We each rotated through different roles as interviewee, interviewer/sound recorder and DP. We were briefed on how the interviewer can give reassurance to the interviewee through facial expressions and nodding but be mindful not to make any audible noises as they interrupt.. Read More
