During week 9 the group spent the week working on our project pitch presentation to present to the class for the end of the week. I was in charge of the time line for completion and how our work was to be displayed for the exhibition. Before our presentation the group was in my opinion a little lost in the direction we wanted to explore with our project. Given the broad nature of our topic and vast array of examples we struggled to narrow down and define a specific idea we wanted to research. After discussing in class as a group following some of Silas’ and I’s reading we decided we wanted to focus on the impact of restoring unfinished films as a means of preserving culture, history and experiences. We also decided we would like to explore this research through the lens of feminist films in particular as this provided a greater motive as for why to finish these films. Following our presentation and feedback from the class and Adrian our approach to the topic was greater solidified as Adrian re emphasised that by focusing in on a specific question we wished to explore we would be able to create a more complete, sophisticated and in depth piece of work rather then a broad and undefined piece. Having this clarity helped the group feel more confident in the direction we were heading towards the creation of our work. However, we were still struggling with how to best use examples to help aid our work. We were unsure of whether to include multiple examples of unfinished films or to perform a deep dive into a specific films. As a group we decided that it would be best to find a hand full of textual examples as we believed focusing on one film would be to limiting and we perhaps would not have enough time to explore a whole film whilst also discussing our agreed upon research focus.
