During the week eight presentations I presented the rough idea, layout, and topic I wished to focus on. After presenting to the group experts from the ADM+S provided me with solid feedback about what areas of the TikTok algorithm I should focus on. They mentioned that I would find it difficult to find concrete evidence from TikTok about how their algorithm runs and this seemed to be true as a continued my research. Students also asked how I would animate the animated sections of my video which at the time I was not entirely sure how I would go about however I was provided with good examples like biteable, adobe after effects. The ADM+S experts also said that if I have time they would love for me to focus on why society has shifted away from long form visual media to fast easy to consume videos. I tried implementing this into my assignment however it seemed it would be hard to do the topic justice with the limited time available and decided against including it in the end. What I found most interesting about the rest of my class mates videos were some of the technical capabilities that were on display in their video preview. One student looking at the Alt-Right pipeline on the internet and specifically Youtube had a very pleasing introduction in which a compilation of videos simultaneously played to create and overwhelming effect. Some other useful feedback I took from the day included the adage of “show don’t tell” and to try not to have to much Piece to Camera footage in my video explainer as it wouldn’t be visually engaging unless I had graphics to support. Thus is in my final full draft of the video I only included less the a minutes worth of Piece to Camera footage.
