In Gerrard Goggin’s article; Automated decision-making, digital inclusion and intersectional disabilities he focuses on and comes to the conclusion that more research is still yet to be done so that we can better understand the distribution of ADM across demographics. I found this to be similar to my own research. Since ADM is such a new sphere of research it is hard to come to a conclusion on appropriate behaviour, framework and policies which will allow for the equality of all in society. New AI automation and new technologies are seeking to avoid this intersectionality by using the unbiased approach of AI. However as mentioned there is still much to learned about how minority groups operate in the digital sphere and thus more research is required in order to fairly operate such a system. I found this discussion similar to the research I am completing on TikTok’s algorithm as the algorithm does often not know what the users race, sex, gender, religion or physical/psychological impairments are thus allowing for a more equal treatment of users. However this can raise a big issue in the sense that groups which may need to be handled differently to others are now receiving the same as those who are not marginalised.
