Pre-production 1 Uncomfortable Filmmaking

Continuing with our final group project, we continued to discuss the story and made changes to certain areas, such as characters. We added the protagonist’s boyfriend as one of the central focuses of the story. Additionally, we began discussing possible cast members, who are friends of my groupmate, and whom I have not met. I expect to contact them in the next week.

Besides the ongoing progress of ideas for our final short piece project, it was the presentation that myself, and most likely the other groups have prioritized for as we were scheduled to present on Thursday. The following class was a presentation day. After hearing other groups’ ideas for this project, we shared our own story. I received feedback suggesting that we should incorporate more subversive elements. As a result, we are now at a stage where we are reviewing the entire project so far and deciding where and how we can introduce subversion to make it stand out from the rest of the group’s projects. Getting feedback from experts in the media field was very beneficial for the future of our work, but it was not the only benefit we gained from this day. It was also a great opportunity to learn about what other groups were doing for their projects. Due to time constraints in the class, I could only hear from half of the groups. However, from what I learned from those groups, I gained nothing but inspiration. Each group had a unique approach to presenting their own stories. Some groups emphasized the visual aspect, while others focused more on pure storytelling.
