Uncomfortable Filmmaking: Week 6

The primary focus of this week was centered around editing, which led to my having a somewhat reduced contribution to the group project. My designated role involved conceptualizing the film idea, leaving me with a feeling of wishing I had played a more significant role in the editing process. Specifically, I felt I could have contributed more to aspects like music selection and the editing cuts. Despite this, I found a heightened sense of enjoyment in the process, possibly due to the project’s vision becoming clearer as we progressed.

While we collaborated on filming certain scenes together, I must admit that my self-perception as an actor wasn’t particularly positive, and I held low optimism about the final outcome. Surprisingly, my groupmate’s editing prowess managed to conceal those shortcomings and resulted in an end product far better than what I had envisioned. This experience underscored the immense importance of editing, revealing that it extends far beyond simply adding enhancements to the raw camera footage.
