Even though we have not done any “creative” activity in the tutorials so far, I feel very excited and optimistic about this course. My main focus of studying in this university is to learn the basic film production and techniques. Despite having attended a few other tutorial classes before, none of them matched what I was aiming to learn, and as a result, I was feeling a little discouraged until the first tutorial on Tuesday Week 1. I had always wanted to make a short film, and the biggest concern was the lack of actors and budgets. When I learned that this course is about teaching the unconventional way of film production, I knew immediately that this is the perfect course I have been looking for a long time, even before my university days. The rest of the tutorials in these 2 weeks were more about drawing inspiration from previous “uncomfortable” examples. I truly feel that what I learned in class gave me a whole new perspective on very complex short films like ‘Unedited footage of a Bear’ and ‘Monty Python and the Holy Grail. From this first 2 weeks, I am expecting further learnings and surprises from the next couple of weeks of this course.
