Finally, our group has submitted, our audio and video essay. I have to say, work on the project was a very valuable experience.
In this project I was responsible for sound recording and writing meeting detail with Tash. This is helpful to me. I was doing an interview at Federation Square, I’m in charge of the sound collection, I need to ensure I have collected enough clear voice, and keep the microphone behind the camera, so I need to keep a particularly strange stance – it makes me feel very tired. Fortunately, our interview was very successful, I think I would like to thank Michael for everything he has done, Michael is a good reporter, he is very confident and patient, Tash is also a good photographer. We are a successful team!
In fact, as an international student, I do not think I can make a great contribution to our team, I’m just doing my job. For this reason, I think Michael is a great leader, he posted our next action on Facebook, which makes me very easy to understand what we are doing. And I also want to thank my team for their patience, when we recorded audio essay, and they listened to me read my manuscript very carefully, they would correct my pronunciation, and because of my fault (laughing) let the works down, but they did not blame me.
I think in this project, I learned the most valuable thing is team spirit. We help each other and work hard,so that this project can be done.
For video, I learn something form Michael about interview:
1. Always keep a smile (do not be discouraged), maybe some people think that this interview is common sense, but in fact, after being rejected many times after smiling (confidence) is very difficult.
2. Do not invite people who are busy walking. Walking speed slower than other people are more likely to accept the invitation, because they have plenty of time.
3. fashion dress and young people are more likely to be interviewed. Perhaps the reason is that they are more dynamic and confident than other.
4. Set the device in a crowded place. Such as the top of the stairs.
5.Talk to different people. Men, women, the elderly, students and office worker to makes our study become more extensive and persuasive.
For audio, what I have learned is not how to make it. Before recording the audio, we wrote a summary of the material we have so far, it strengthened my writing skills, after recording, I have spoken also been strengthened. I think that for an international student, this is very important.
In doing this project,we discussed many time and change our direction and ideas at any time. We cut out some of our research was made, equalize the audio, change the background audio and speak tone. Discuss improving our project. The discussion is very important!
As a media practitioner, creativity and action are very important. Media needs energetic workers, we need to keep thinking, and changes also makes media become more perfect, the media is everywhere, as we stand at Federation Square, Tash is a photographer, I’m a sound recording engineer, Michael is a reporter, when we record in the classroom, we are announcers, when we edit the video, we are editors, when we edit audio, we are tuning division. We are also a ‘medium’, when we interviewed people, we as an RMIT student ‘sell’ RMIT to others – like the role of social media (Google & Facebook).
Yes, this is an interesting project, and I learned a lot from it, and I have a lot to learn in media.
